His speech is good. No, it’s great. But for me, it’s not enough. Gary has given the vegan community a terrible name by telling non vegans they deserve to be anally raped and by belittling so many different ethnicities and cultures all in the name of veganism. I just find him to be racist, obnoxious and a hindrance to our movement.

His ideas are beautiful but the way that he conducts himself is childish and embarrassing. It makes me very sad because his speech is bloody brilliant! But he completely lets himself down by not knowing how to behave in an adult manner. He will literally stomp his feet if people disagree with him and I just feel ashamed that he’s like that really. He’s the reason people think vegans are assholes.

I feel that there are so many wonderful iconic vegan activists, like James Wildman, who promote the exact same material as Gary but don’t do it in a way that will anger and upset people.

My problem with Gary is he’s so carried away in everything he stands for that he’s forgotten what veganism is really about- peace, love and equality.

To me, he is angry, bitter and borderline violent. It doesn’t sit comfortably with me at all and I feel that he needs to take himself down a peg or two. He definitely has inspired the vegan community.

However, I think he’s gotten to a point where he’s pretty much discouraging future generations of vegans through his vile words. It’s a shame, really.
